The daffodil blooms shudder in the breeze. The phlox shows signs of pregnant blooms. It’s a prefect day for a Spring walk. I guess that’s what makes the moment captured in the poem so poignant.
But alas, I think I broke a rule regarding poetry: never explain your poem.
i like this….i like i a lot. simple, yet brilliant.
: )
It’s amazing what one might learn from walking home on a Spring afternoon. Thanks!
I like it. I would like it more if you had left off the last line. But then, I am a traditionalist.
Good point. I try to avoid being a resolution junkie when it comes to poem endings. But I already broke one poetry rule today… why not two? 🙂
Could also be the influence of the German poet I’m translating. Brinkmann tends to echo the opening lines in the final lines.
Glad you like the poem!
