How Big Is Magazine’s Carbon Footprint?

“Each month’s issue of DISCOVER in this process, transportation included, releases the equivalent of 170 tons of CO2 , whereas recycled magazines—only a small portion of the total—produce about 6 tons. Beyond reducing greenhouse gases, recycling saves about 1,000 pounds of solid waste, some 10,000 gallons of water, and 17 million Btu of energy per ton of paper. Furthermore, two tons of trees per ton of paper remain standing due to recycling”¹

// somedays, i can go a whole day at the office without saying a few dozen words to coworkers or clients… i don’t do this intentionally… it’s just part of being involved in special projects… maybe it’s the whole out-of-site-out-of-mind equation… & it’s not that i’m goofing off… working on a design for sales sheet promoting new media advertising opportunities… still, if i knew it was going to be this dull today, i would have taken a personal day & worked in the garden…
