Manhattanhenge

abcworldnews:

Last night at roughly 8:17pm New Yorkers got a chance to experience “Manhattanhenge”, the semiannual occurrence where the setting sun aligns perfectly with east-west streets.  If you missed it don’t worry though, a second date this year is expected to take place on Monday, July 11 at 8:25 p.m.

Snomaghetto

Remember that 10% grade snomaghetto road I couldn’t navigate at 6AM. Makes a perfect sled (or luge) run at 2PM.

Snomaghetto evening

At 6AM I realized I wasn’t going to make it out of the snomaghetto. May not look like it but that’s a 10% grade slope.

IHOP & Cook Out open for business

Of all the stores closed on Tunnel Road, yesterday, both IHOP and Cook Out were open for business.

I may have ‘O.D.ed on twitter this weekend’ and need to unplug for awhile.

I am taking a 30-day spiritual retreat and a sabbatical from social media.

Frank’s Pizza is open

Frank’s Pizza was open on Monday. According to Ray’s Weather, it’s supposed to hit 41°F today. Yesterday’s snow will be a memory.

Overdosed on Twitter

As @ashevegas stated yesterday, I overdosed on Twitter as the Christmas Day winter storm dumped almost a foot of snow on Asheville.

Driving to the office Monday morning.

A morning walk the day after Christmas

All is quiet except the chatter of a couple cardinals in a holly tree.

Day after Christmas.

Snowfall measures just under nine inches. Locals used impassable streets as sled runs.

Snow covered barn.

Snow covered limbs along the creek side.

This afternoon I took a walk in the snow.

It is over 6 inches deep at 6 p.m. and still coming down.

Anyone know if #AVL broke the record today?

For this day, 5.4 inches is the record snowfall set in 1969 (via @WLOSphotog21).

True confession, I took this photo at noon, standing barefoot in the snow.

There’s about 5 inches at 2 p.m.
